Onboarding and Agent Setup

How to choose a channel, connect your bot, enable skills, and finish your shop profile

OpenSeller's onboarding is a six-step setup that configures your communication channel, active skills, and shop context. You can resume where you left off if you leave mid-flow.

Tip

The onboarding flow turns OpenSeller from a generic assistant into your assistant.

Welcome

The first screen explains what OpenSeller is built to do:

  • Research trends
  • Track profit
  • Write better listings
  • Coach you as you grow

Use this step as orientation. The real configuration starts on the next screens.

Choose your channel

You can set where your agent lives.

  • Telegram is the main mobile-first option
  • Discord is available in the onboarding flow as a channel option

Choose the channel you will actually use during the week. This matters more than choosing the "best" option on paper.

Connect your bot

After selecting a channel, OpenSeller asks for a bot token and verifies it.

  • Paste the token
  • Verify the connection
  • Confirm the bot username once validation succeeds

Warning

If verification fails, fix the token before moving forward. The rest of the product is still useful, but channel setup is what makes the agent feel immediate.

Enable skills

The onboarding flow includes a skill selection step. Some skills are enabled by default because they are central to the product.

Common defaults and core capabilities include:

  • Profit Tracker
  • Listing Writer
  • Shop Coach
  • Trend Scout
  • Keyword Research

Turn on the capabilities that match your current phase. If you are early, trend research and listing help usually matter more than broad automation.

Build your shop profile

This is where OpenSeller starts learning your business context. You can provide:

  • Whether you already have a shop
  • Your shop name
  • What you sell
  • Experience level
  • Revenue range
  • Goals such as increasing sales, improving SEO, or finding trending products

Info

This information affects the quality of the agent's recommendations. The more specific your profile, the better your results.

Launch

The final step provisions your setup and sends you into the app. If your account has already completed onboarding, OpenSeller skips the setup flow and sends you directly to the main product.

Editing setup later

You do not need to redo onboarding from scratch to make changes.

Use Settings to manage:

  • Channels
  • Skills
  • Shop profile
  • Notifications
  • Plan and model preferences

Best practices

Pick the right channel

Choose the channel you will actually respond to, not the one that sounds best.

Keep goals specific

Specific goals produce specific results. "Increase sales" is too broad — "find trending products for Mother's Day" is actionable.

Don't over-enable

Don't enable every skill just because it exists. Start with 2-3 that match your current needs.

Review after a week

Return to Settings after a week and tighten your configuration based on what you've actually used.
